About our Founder, Edgar Pumayalli
Founded by Edgar Pumayalli Huarhua, Machu Picchu Spirit is more than just a tour company. It is the realization of Edgar’s lifelong dream to share the rich history, spirituality, and breathtaking beauty of his homeland with the world. Edgar was born and raised in the small village of Chinchero in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where he grew up speaking Quechua, the native language of his ancestors. It was here, among the mountains and traditions of his upbringing, that Edgar’s profound connection to his cultural heritage and the spirit of the Andes took root.
With a deep respect for the sacred lineage passed down to him, Edgar studied diligently in Cusco to become a licensed tour guide. Under the guidance of his teacher, Puma, he learned to carry forward the wisdom of the mountains and Pachamama, weaving this knowledge into every experience he now offers. For over 15 years, Edgar has dedicated himself to leading travelers through this remarkable region, working with local tour companies before founding Machu Picchu Spirit to fully realize his vision.
