Following a morning pickup from your accommodation in Cusco, we’ll begin our journey with a scenic drive to the town of Tambomachay, where you’ll meet our trekking team and prepare for the adventure ahead. After a brief introduction and final preparation, we’ll set off on our hike.
The trail takes us through picturesque valleys, serene lakes, and sprawling open grasslands. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, including Andean Geese, lapwings, and other bird species that inhabit this breathtaking region. Along the way, you’ll also pass fields of traditional crops such as native potatoes and tarwi, gaining a glimpse into the agricultural traditions of the Andes.
We’ll pause for a delicious, freshly prepared lunch at the stunning Q’eulla Cocha Lagoon, where you can relax, take in the tranquil surroundings, and recharge for the next leg of the trek.
After lunch, we’ll ascend to Pukamarca Pass at an elevation of 4,200 meters. From this vantage point, you’ll be rewarded with awe-inspiring panoramic views of the Andean peaks, including Veronica, Pitusiray, and Chicon. These towering mountains form a dramatic backdrop, ideal for photos and reflection.
From the pass, we’ll begin our descent into the remote village of Pukamarca, located at 4,010 meters.
