Your adventure begins bright and early as we depart from Cusco on a scenic three-and-a-half-hour drive through breathtaking landscapes that showcase the beauty of the Andean highlands. Along the way, we’ll make a stop at the famous Sistine Chapel of Cusco, a hidden gem known for its stunning colonial artwork and rich history. The journey continues as we pass through the charming traditional villages of Urcos, Catca, and Ocangate, each offering a glimpse into local life and culture. Upon arriving in Pacchanta (3,800 meters above sea level), you’ll have the chance to unwind with a relaxing soak in the nearby hot springs. These natural thermal baths provide the perfect opportunity to rejuvenate while taking in the awe-inspiring views of Ausangate, one of Peru’s most majestic snow-capped mountains. It’s a truly serene and unforgettable experience.
- Accommodation included: Stay with a welcoming local family in a traditional house, offering an authentic cultural experience.
- Meals included: A hearty lunch to fuel your adventure and a delicious dinner to end your day.
- Entrance tickets: All entrance fees are included, so you can focus on enjoying your journey stress-free.
After a hearty breakfast, we embark on our trek, surrounded by the breathtaking views of Ausangate, one of the most sacred peaks in the Andes. As we follow in the footsteps of the Andean ancestors, the journey takes us through rugged landscapes imbued with history and spirituality. Along the way, we stop at the sacred Apacheta, a symbolic mountain pass connecting the valleys to the heavens. Here, we will participate in an offering ceremony to honor the Apus, the mountain spirits believed to guide and protect the Andean people.
For those seeking a deeper connection with the Universe and Mother Earth, an Optional Huachuma Medicine Ceremony is offered on this day. Huachuma, an ancestral plant medicine with thousands of years of use in the Andes, opens a sacred space to guide us within. Known as the medicine of unconditional Love, Huachuma helps us reconnect with our place in the Cosmos and the heart of Mother Earth. Through this ceremony, we cleanse energetic imbalances, heal past traumas, and release habits or beliefs that no longer serve us. It’s a profound journey of forgiveness, clarity, and transformation, guiding us back to our origins as pure love and creative potential.
Continuing on, the trail leads us to the sacred turquoise lagoons of Otorongo, shimmering like gems against the dramatic Andes. At these lagoons, we connect with the cool, pristine waters, embracing their purity and energy to cleanse and renew our spirits. Finally, we return to Pacchanta, where we will witness the extraordinary skill of local artisans as they weave centuries of culture and tradition into their intricate textile artistry.
