Itinerary
The adventure to Machu Picchu begins on Day 1
with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. From there, you’ll embark on a scenic journey through the Sacred Valley, traversing Andean landscapes, rivers, and small traditional villages until you reach Ollantaytambo, one of the last inhabited Inca towns.
In Ollantaytambo, you’ll board the panoramic train that follows the course of the Urubamba River towards Aguas Calientes. During the journey, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of mountains, lush vegetation, and natural canyons, making the trip an unforgettable experience.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you’ll have free time for lunch and to explore the town at your own pace. You can choose to relax in the hot springs and stroll through the streets of Aguas Calientes. In the evening, you’ll check into your hotel, where you’ll rest up for the following day.
Day 2
begins early, when you’ll take the bus for an approximately 30-minute ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Entering the citadel in the early hours of the day allows you to enjoy a tranquil and magical atmosphere.
Accompanied by a certified professional guide, you will take a 2-hour guided tour, exploring the main areas of the sanctuary, where you will learn about the history, architecture, and spiritual significance of this wonder of the world. After the tour, you will have free time to take photos and explore the site at your own pace.
Afterward, you will descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you will have time for lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, a tourist transport will take you back to the city of Cusco, arriving at approximately 8:00 p.m.
A tip for your trip: always carry your passport (it is required for entry), dress in layers due to temperature changes, and don’t forget your camera. Machu Picchu is not just visited, it is experienced.
