Itinerary
The Palccoyo experience begins very early with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. From there, the tourist transport heads south through the Cusco Valley, passing through landscapes that combine agricultural fields, imposing mountains, and Andean communities where daily life keeps ancestral traditions alive.
After an approximately two-hour drive, there is a stop in Cusipata for a hearty breakfast, ideal for acclimatizing and recharging your energy. Afterward, the journey continues along a scenic route that ventures into the high Andean zones, where the landscape opens up and the natural colors begin to stand out.
Upon arriving at the community of Palccoyo, a gentle and accessible hike begins, considered an excellent alternative to Vinicunca. During the hike, visitors will be able to appreciate three colorful mountains, unique geological formations, and the impressive Stone Forest, a natural collection of rocks eroded by time that offers spectacular views of the mountain range.
The professional guide accompanies you at all times, providing information about the geography, local culture, and the spiritual significance of the Apus (sacred mountains). There is ample time for photographs and contemplating the surroundings in a less crowded and more tranquil setting.
After the visit, you will return to Cusipata to enjoy a traditional lunch before beginning your journey back to Cusco, arriving in the city in the afternoon.
A tip for this adventure: Palccoyo is located at a high altitude, so it is important to walk at a leisurely pace, stay hydrated, and savor every moment of the scenery. It is an ideal destination for those seeking nature, vibrant colors, and tranquility in the Andes.
